Hello Creatives,
Does your life resemble an oxymoron? Do you often "play a role" while not being fully yourself?
For me, both answers are “Yes” and this is why I write. Working in big tech by day, I create dramatic series and feature scripts after dark. I'm into self-discovery, philosophy, human aspect in tech ecosystems, black coffee and long walks in a graveyard.
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and, thanks to my love for heavy metal and other non-mainstream arts, am often compared to Wednesday Addams is she were blonde.
What are your reasons to write?

You are a hell of a writer Olga! What an awesome introduce yourself post. How do you balance the daytime tech-work with the creativity of your nighttime writing work? So glad to have you in the community. If your writing is anything like the creativity of your IYW post, you have success in your future!

Hey Olga Gabris , Happy IYW! I think we're all walking oxymorons to an extent. Especially as creatives. We're always interested in the world around us and what makes it tick.

Hi Amanda Toney thanks, much appreciated! Happy to be here. Balance is a truly delicate substance - for me, it requires ruthless prioritization and choosing projects that really matter. Oh, and good old-fashioned sleeping in on the weekends!

It's a creative output for me. Also, it's a way to temper my anxiety (I suffer from a General Anxiety disorder). Instead of lashing out at people, I can lash out by my characters in a script or researching a subject for a historical essay.
And yeah, I classify myself as a walking oxymoron. I do play a role when I write. Many roles in this case because of my characters.

Fair point, Niki - we're all multi-faceted! I think that embracing all those facets is key, so that we keep growing while remaining true to ourselves

Do you have a brother named Pugsley, Olga Gabris? :) I write to show people scripts and scenes they've never seen before, impact/change people with my scripts, and make money.

Hello:
Wednesday Addams - extravagantly unique and seed in the mysterious enjoyment of such a mentality. The depths your mind roots to understand the adventurous paths of many - delightful.
What are some of your favorite bands?
Disturbed (Sound of Silence cover, Reason to Fight, and others), etc.
Gratitude into your path.
God Bless,
John German

Marcel Nault Jr. creative output rules! It's such an inspiring way to turn something triggering into art. Writing is a special kind of therapy, isn't it? All the best on your journey and I hope to see your worlds sometime!

Maurice Vaughan all valid reasons! Creating something that didn't exist before is such a superpower. I don't have any siblings, although can think of some friends with a Pugsley persona!

John Michael German you've created such a poetic intro, immediately took my mind into lyrical depths :) And then, Disturbed - a perfect way to bring in the oxymoron. I used to listen to them more in the 2010's, alongside Slipknot and NIN.
My metal journey fluctuates between the classics to industrial (Eisbrecher, Die Arzte, Die toten hosen, etc) to Viking/Nordic metal (Wardruna, Solstafir, Danheim) and many more.. Since these are more niche to the US market, I go with "heavy metal" so it resonates better :)

I write to illuminate, and to darken the minds of my audiences :) All at once, and also because these worlds and people we “create” we don’t really “create” we moreso just “figure out” or “flesh out” as they most realistically and naturally aught be in order that they incarnate:)

Olga Gabris I feel out of place. Call me an a-oxymoronic. In my life there’s nothing out of place with respect to writing. I feel at one with myself when I put pen to paper. The rest of my life has challenges, but then whose doesn’t?!

Creating things is a superpower, Olga Gabris. I haven't seen the new "Wednesday" series, but I wonder if Pugsley is in it.
