Aaron Marcus great post. I have seen some independent Directors and DP’s work with actors on the side, doing head shots as sometimes an additional bonus.

Rachel Walker I don't even have a real headshot lol this is just a selfie. Some people may see it as novice, but I've always done screenwriting/acting for fun! My life will go on if I don't get any opportunities. Thankfully I've had a lot of cool projects though so people still give me a chance!

Hi Mario. I have seen this as well. I know of at least 2 casting directors who also shoot headshots.

Hi Ryu, I wouldn't think that at this point you need to invest any money into creating a professional headshot. And, you are a screenwriter, not an actor.

I have literally seen actors use this as a Negotiation tool when they’re doing small, independent film and small short films.
They usually ask for head shots as part of the package of coming on board sometimes.
I’ve also seen the same thing Aaron for demo reel’s.

That is interesting. I guess the actor really needs to know how to create an effective headshot and explain it to the director/cinematographer. Otherwise, the photo might not be very helpful to them.
