He's right. I'm working with someone in Pakistan . However, cities will never be abolished. Looking ahead, we shall soon see empty driverless vehicles relocating themselves across town, overhead delivery-drones will fly to Recharge Pylons and many of the 'people ' on our busy streets will be robots. If the pandemics continue, it is possible that human beings will be scarce, the bustling crowds will be a remarkable mixture of mechanical devices.
Geoffrey Alexander thanks for posting a comment, Geoffrey. Now that would feel kinda spooky; more pandemics, people locked away in their homes and only robots out on the streets! Would robots come and help the humans with a little therapy and psychological encouragement?
Because I feel humanity still carries pockets of unhealthy escapism as a current habits. The city of the future in 2100 could be understood by unique urban planning, sustainable architecture, and widespread integration of smart technologies integrating directly with the human body. I feel the human mind is becoming more and more fractured on top of "Attention span" being the next commodity.
I do believe in the digital age we will be give technologies that are escaping reality to the point where it is unhealthy for the human mind. I think VR will turn into a physical interaction rather than a virtual one. Much like a Holodeck.
There could be some innovations in transportation, such as autonomous vehicles and efficient public transit systems like skyrails much higher up. Global communication may involve highly immersive virtual and augmented reality experiences that unhealthy escapism I was talking about, and instantaneous secure data transmissions for direct neural interfaces.
Infrastructure capable of withstanding extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and other environmental catastrophe.. This could involve unique elevated buildings, flood-resistant designs, and improved water management systems. Even bricks that would withstand earthquakes. Flood technologies that could seal the building at certain points minimizing damage.
Predictions for technology in 2100 often include breakthroughs in biotechnology, artificial intelligence would radically change, renewable energy, and space exploration, leading to significant advancements in healthcare, environmental sustainability, and our understanding of the universe.
It is all speculative and subject to various factors, including societal choices, ethical considerations, and unforeseen challenges that may shape the actual trajectory of technological progress. My 2 cents.
Julia Petrisor nicely linked, Julia!!
Mario Leone thanks for your two cents, Mario. Do you think humanity would become more afraid of human, body to body sex and use VR as a replacement? Digital intimacy? Thus solving the population crisis on planet Earth?
I like your flood defences for houses, that sounds cool. Many houses in the UK are built on flood plains and then people wonder why they are flooded after a deluge of rain.
Artificial Intelligence. We always seem to focus on the second word and never consider the Artificial side of it.
Attention span. Perhaps that will become the new commodity - a person's attention span will be how success at the box office is measured?
Geoff Hall Do I think humanity would become more afraid of body to body sex and use VR. I believe this would only hold itself true if the we removed physical contact at birth and used immediately VR at birth. Then that would be true. We become what are conditioned and taught.
Then that human's concept of reality would be much like Platos cave. I believe Plato's cave still has merit today just the level of reality change and adjustment is more projected from humans.
What we never consider that is AI is programmable. Humans are bias loaded and those biases will be programmed into AI. It's extremely crucial that a person be objective when programming, yet we live in a subjective world.
Attention span. Perhaps that will become the new commodity - a person's attention span will be how success at the box office is measured? No, it Is already happening with Social Media algorithms. The eye tracking technologies and how the human eye movement relates to emotions. This is just the beginning.
Social media diets are being created from the math and then is adjusted as a diet and fed back to you. This way marketing of products and things can go forward WITH new targets in mind. Attention span is dwindling... because of the mental behavior pattern interruptions from notifications and other technologies. I studied HCI and human psychology for fun... :-) Have a great day.
