Today I paid for the feature screenwriting coverage feedback. It's the first time this revised final draft has been in to the public domain. My project 'Brick by Brick' ,a female led psychological thriller, has been 8 years in the making, from initial concept idea, to first draft, countless re-writes and edits to where it is today. I believe it is a solid piece of work with well formed characters with their own voice, shown in their ordinary world before conflict takes them in to a new world. We see how they react to this new world and how it affects them physically and mentally as well as those characters around them. Standard 3 act format with conflict resolution before a little twist in the tale.
I'm both excited and nervous for the feedback but ready to take it on the chin and make any necessary changes.
That's great, Gary McGahon! How did you and your writing partner stay motivated while working on the script for 8 years?

Maurice Vaughan Great question. The two main reasons it took 8 years were, that we both have full time jobs and we worked for a few months then put the screenplay in a draw for a few months and come back to it. Each time we got back to it, it felt easy to find motivation as we both bounce off each other well and we both love movies and creative writing. Finally we are convinced that we have a a solid project that we both believe in.
Cool, Gary McGahon. That's great that it was so easy for you two to find motivation. And I think one advantage of having a writing partner is when one person isn't motivated, the other person might be, so the motivated person can motivate the unmotivated one.

Hi Gary McGahon! Congrats on the script! I'm so glad you're getting feedback and you seem to have a great attitude about the response, no matter what way it goes. If you need help deciding who to have read your script next, feel free to shoot me and the Success Team an email at success@stage32.com :)

Emily J Thanks Emily, because we believe in the project so strongly it’s easy to have the right attitude, feedback isn’t personal it’s about getting the product right.
What does the success team do please?
M LaVoie Hi Michael, which service did you select and pay for? This wasn’t a specific writer I paid for, it was the script coverage from s32 directly and I’ve had an email saying the screenplay has been uploaded and should be read in 3 days.

Congratulations on coming this far! You should be so proud of your progress and crafting your story. You have a great attitude going forward in that even after all that work you may still have some revisions. I think once you feel it is really ready it is about finding execs that like your style so the revisions you do are in line with your style already.

Theres also coverflyx, which is peer coverage with a token system (you earn a token for giving notes, and can then spend it on getting notes) you start off with a couple tokens to spend.
Ive gotten feedback twice, the quality of the coverage can vary but it was helpful.

I like the feedback provided by the various screenplay competitions. Some are top notch. Plus you get the advantage of having your work judged. Sometimes it takes a few months to receive it but I have always found the process to be constructive.
