Goals for 2024

Hello: My goal this year like every year is to have one of my screenplay's produced. I have about seven screenplays over various genres. I'm not good at marketing and that's because I'm old school and not great with technology and using all the platforms and apps available. But I enjoy this space and have to try and get here more often.

Sam Sokolow

Hi Gloria Katch - its great to meet you here in the community. You're not alone as a writer. I recommend taking a look at Steve Desmond's Stage 32 webinar on how to network as a screenwriter. Steve started like everyone else - with a dream and a work ethic - and he's now writing some of the biggest movies in the world. Here's a link to his webinar so you can check it out: https://www.stage32.com/webinars/How-To-Network-Effectively-As-A-Screenw...

That's a great webinar that Sam Sokolow recommended, Gloria Katch. Here are networking blogs that might help too (www.stage32.com/blog/tags/networking-41). Hope you reach your goal!

I'm glad that you're posting and putting yourself out there, Gloria Katch! Being consistent on platforms like Stage 32 can be invaluable in helping you network and learn. I hope to see you post and comment more often this year! =)

Thank you Ashley, Maurice and Sam: I appreciate all your support. I'll try and tune in.

It's nice to meet you, Gloria Katch! This platform is amazing for meeting with executives to pitch screenplays in hopes of getting produced. I've done many pitch sessions and I've got constructive feedback, meetings, and great scores. My hope is to get one of my three screenplays produced as well. I'm wishing you the best of luck. May 2024 be the year that all our dreams come true. I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to add you to my network. Have a great remainder of the weekend!

You're welcome, Gloria Katch.

Hi Gloria Katch. It's great to meet you! I'm new to Stage32 and already love it. I hope you get one of your scripts produced! Technology can be intimidating, but you've done great by posting about that particular challenge, as this environment is warm and supportive. Let me know if there's something I can help talk you through!

Gloria Katch nice to meet you! Don't give up, you'll get the hang of marketing. Most of it is just networking and getting to know people.

Gloria Katch

Thank you Steve. This is encouraging. I like meeting people. Let me ask you as a part of marketing, and maybe I should put this in one of the lounges for discussion, but does having your own website really help? I don't mean Facebook. I've always thought it looked more professional, but do writers find they get a lot of hits and people interested in purchasing their work from their own websites?

Gloria Katch

Thank you Karmin: That's very sweet! I am going to try pitching soon. Many people seemed to get alot out of it. My problem is I get too detailed and I lose my shit. ( I'm the girl at the party who also messes up the punchline on a joke. Did I say I was sobre? Hell no, not at a party). But by all means, please add me to your network. You sound like a very determined woman and I hope you do well. I enjoy giving feedback so anyone can feel free to run anything by me at any time. I hope I get to meet everyone on one of these pitch or feedback sessions.

Gloria Katch good question. Regarding a website, I've found the best marketing is not a website, but rather getting to know people. A website is a great place to start putting your work, once you're established. An easy / cost free starter is a social media page (Facebook, Stage32) with your info on there. Remember, everyone is an 'expert' but only a small percentage of people earn their living doing art.
