Hi all!
My name is Gina; I am a makeup artist and educator.
I am still hoping that Stage 32 will grant us a lounge so that we can talk all things makeup there - AND it would be a 'one stop shop' where producers, directors, and UPMs can find their makeup departments.
I am currently booking gigs be it background, commercials, documentaries, etc.
Doing film projects in LA? Let's connect!

Hi Gina Roland! So glad you're here! What kinds of projects do you like to work on the most?

Hi, Gina Roland. Hope you're doing great. I've heard it takes hours of makeup for some roles. Have you ever spent hours putting makeup on an actor?

for whatever reason, I cannot directly address these questions… I should be able to just comment…
Anyway, to answer questions, I've never spent hours doing makeup on one actor. I believe what you referring to is special effects Makeup (SFX), and I do light injuries and aging, monsters & zombies – those take a little longer than regular beauty/grooming, but not nearly as long as prosthetics.
The other question was, what do I like to do best. I enjoy anything from documentaries, where just beauty and grooming is involved, to, like I said above, light injuries and aging. Fashion/runway is also fun… As are monster and zombie makeups.
I would LOVE to do an historical film at some point. I've seen WAY too many of these where the makeup is too much/wrong for the period.
:)

You can reply directly to someone by putting @ in front of their name, Gina Roland. If it doesn't work, refresh the post.
Oh, I thought SFX and other makeup were the same in the industry. Thanks for letting me know. Learn something new every day. :)

Maurice Vaughan SFX is the same industry - just uses different tools and materials. Also, not every makeup artist uses all available mediums. Like a fine artist, one can specialize in oil paints on canvas, while another sculpts with marble. :)
I have an informative lecture for producers/directors about how to find hair & makeup (H&M), what questions to ask, what H&M should provide, what the production should provide to H&M, and the best way to approach rate negotiations. :)

Hi Gina Roland thank you for sharing, it's great to meet you! I have yet to meet a working MUA, we're to glad to have you!
That sounds great, Gina Roland. Have you thought about posting your lecture in the Video/Audio Section of your profile for producers/directors/etc. to see?
