I'm pleased to announce my screenplay Imitation Art was chosen as a quarterfinalist in Stage 32's 2nd Annual Feature Screenwriting Fellowship Competition!
My experiences working in the art world inspired me to write this screenplay. A lawyer by training, I worked in the NYC art world for over a decade. During that time, I witnessed the business at many levels. I've seen it all, from artist’s studios, to the homes of wealthy collectors. I've worked behind the scenes at Sotheby’s, New York, organizing the auction house’s major yearly sales.
Comments on Imitation Art from an industry professional:
I had the good fortune of working as a screenwriter in the entertainment industry for decades. I won an Emmy for “Camerena: Drug Wars,” and co-created “Walker Texas Ranger,” along with numerous other credits. I also had the pleasure of teaching in the UCLA Writers Program for over 10 years. In my journey, I have seldom come across a script that is as rock solid in its craft, fascinating in its content and as well realized in its execution as I experienced in Lori K. Richard’s screenplay, “Imitation Art.” It was a compelling read with riveting characters, sharp dialogue, vivid imagery, and the intrigue was well spun. I have no doubt that this script will eventually find its way into the light of day. Thank you, Lori, for letting me read this.
