Your Stage : I did it! by Mathew Tretola

I did it!

I landed my first full-time job working at video production studio near where I live in Tallahassee, FL. Before this my main full-time job was security and I was also working part-time for an MMA organization making shorts for their social media. Before that I was writing and animating my own 2D short films while working security. It was baby steps all the way to getting that full-time position.

I've been working at this production company for three months now and for the past two weeks I've been the main editor for a half-hour TV show that airs on FOX 49. I film quite a lot for this show as well. We have to fill 28 minutes and 30 seconds every week (52 episodes a year without fail). Even though It's not a place I want to be working long-term, It's great to be doing something I actually enjoy. Security was pretty terrible and this was definitely a welcome change. lol.

Another recent victory for me: My animated comedy short, Brownies, is distributed through Filmhub and was picked up by two companies. I'm happy it passed QC and it definitely gave me more motivation to produce more animated content. My plan is to produce a season of an animated series I created over the next couple years. The two scripts I submitted to competitions did pretty well, winning a bunch of awards and one placed as Quarter-Finalist in Scriptapalooza.

Very cool! What kind of segments are you filming for the studio? What's been your favorite so far?

Congratulations on landing the job, Mathew Tretola! You might already be doing this, but keep an eye on Stage 32's Job Board (www.stage32.com/find-jobs).

Congratulations on "Brownies" being distributed through Filmhub and picked up by two companies! And congratulations on your scripts winning the awards and your script reaching the Quarter-Finals!

Congratulations!!! That's amazing! You'll have to let us know when/where we can check out BROWNIES when it comes out!

Pat Alexander We film all kinds of things around Tallahassee and the region. I've filmed everything from Politicians' Committee Meetings, Sessions, press conferences and interviews with them at the Capital Building, a cooking competition, an MMA event, a Rocky Horror Picture Show act, Conventions, concerts and today I filmed the Springtime Tallahassee Parade and Jubilee Festival. We do a lot of interviews as well with everyone at these events. Fans, performers, the Mayor of Tallahassee, ect. Lots of different things. My favorite thing was probably the MMA event (I LOVE combat sports), but filming the Rocky Horror Picture Show, the parade, the cooking competition, it's all fun. The Capital Building, however, is not fun. All I do is stand there and babysit a camera for hours on end. Its very boring... and I hate it. My favorite part of the job is making motion graphics and animations for the show. I'm working on modernizing all the segways, ads, logos, ect for it. All the ones they've been using for years are pretty basic and look very vintage.
