I came here because so many people told me that my true story should be a Netflix or Lifetime movie. My story is roaring like a voiceless lioness, until I learn from you pros how to give her a voice. This is a story that will put any screen writer on the A-list for sure! I need a partner because I don't have the skills, experience, training or connections, to bring my shocking but incredible true story to life, but below is a link to my amatuer youtube vlog telling the story: My sister Lorraine was homeless in NY because she had to hide from the NJ bounty hunters after escaping Rikers Island prison for a crime she didn't commit. She escaped by hiding in a boat. When you have a brain injury you cannot defend yourself when accused. Lorraine just wanted to eat, and a New Yor Post reporter told her he would give her food money to be a witness, so she played along, but then told him she really didn't witness the murder after. He not only printed her false witnessing, but also had it all over the TV news. He gave the killer all of the information needed to find and kill her by offering her bad pills, so she could not testify. The full story is on my amatuer youtube vlog, starting with a psychic that made me want to tell her story, (but not relevant now) without realizing that researching her NY life would actually lead me to find out she was murdered. Her body was found on a NY Subway soon after this New York Post article was printed. Lorraine was not a scholar or beauty queen, and wore tattered clothes, so no one cared about her murder. It was just swept under the rug by authorities. Link to the amatuer YouTube story: https://youtu.be/3-1Zg912Lvk

Welcome to the community, Jane Shebroe. "My story is roaring like a voiceless lioness, until I learn from you guys how to give her a voice." Great intro!
Here's a webinar about how to adapt a book into a film or series: https://www.stage32.com/education?p=8944877044019
Where is the best place to find script producers? I have two scripts: A Fool's Errand (Adventure/Dark Comedy) and Equinox (Science Fiction). I am looking for a shot at Netflix.
I also have two completed manuscripts: Apparitions (Action/Thriller) and The Ranger (Action/Thriller).
Both are full length novels.

Joseph Thibodaux You could search for producers in the Browse Members Section (www.stage32.com/people).

A log line or short one-page on your incredible and shocking true life story would be of interest here, i think, Jane . Good Luck, Jed.

Hi, Jane! You should start by creating a logline. (One sentence that describes the entire story. Imagine you're in an elevator with a movie producer. You have 30 seconds to grab his/her attention.) Next, create a two-page pitch. ( Follow the format!) Lastly, create a pitch deck. ( Again, there is a format to be followed.) If you would like to see the pitch and pitch deck that I created and landed a movie producer, let me know. Wishing you so much success! Cheers, Judy Prescott Marshall multi-award-winning.

My true story is about my sister's fall that injured her brain and led to her escaping Rikers Island (by hiding on a boat) for a crime she didn't commit (but she didn't have the mental capacity or money to defend herself) and then her living the NY City street life alone as a fugitive for many years with an impaired brain but determined to survive.
As I was telling her life story in a youtube vlog, my own research led to me finding out who killed her.
Her body was found on a NY City Subway after a New York Post reporter tricked her into being a false witness for the famous Darryl Littlejohn rape and murder of the college student.
The reporter put all of my sister's information, and how to find her, in print in the New York Post, even after she told him that she didn't really witness the murder, and she only pretended to witness because she saw the reporter offered food money to other witnesses in the park that day, and she was hungry.
When she called me to let me know she was okay, I asked why I heard her name on the TV news, and she told me about the reporter, but that was the last phone call ever from her, because that food money cost her life.
Here is a link to my amatuer vlog. It starts with a psychic, but that was just what prompted me to vlog about her, not really revevant after that. https://youtu.be/3-1Zg912Lvk

There are so many informative posts to explore! Another good way to learn is by reading successful screenplays. Sometimes you have to pay for access, but it's worth it, especially if it's in your genre.

What an incredible story Jane Shebroe! Reality really can be crazier than fiction. This is a great place to look for collaborators to help bring this story to life!

Welcome, Jane Shebroe. I am so very sorry that you lost your sister, especially under the circumstances you provided us. Truly terrible. If you are going to tell this tale for whatever reasons you hold dear to your heart, please make sure that you interview several writers and find one that can care about your story as much as you do. In order to do your story justice, a writer has to understand not only the facts and accurate accounting, but feel the emotions that were present throughout.

In all the sordid craziness of her existence, when I told her story in this vlog, I forgot to mention that the fall that caused her brain injury, did not affect her heart in any way. She still cared deeply and had empathy for other people's feelings. Learning survival skills did not take away all of her morals. There were times when she would rather go hungry than hurt someone else.
