Saw this earlier today. I am curious if this means they are cutting to 20 episodes or are they going to do 22 episodes and just have each lead bow out for 2 for an episode arch focused on the other lead?

I think it will mean that the lead actors will rotate not being an episode for two episodes. I have seen this a lot with Dick Wolf shows, on the Chicago ones where a main character will be "off doing xyz for a couple weeks" than they come back and another one "has a family emergency." I thought is was the actors wanting reduced hours since broadcast tv filming days are so long but I guess it wasn't a choice. Makes sense, broadcast doesn't have the budget streamers do.

Will be interesting to watch how they play this but I tend to agree with Suzanne Bronson - there is an effort by broadcasters to mitigate costs and this may be a way to do that with the leads in their show without devaluing the overall brand.
