That is the question I got from someone in a high position of production at a Top 10 "big dog" film company when I was in Los Angeles. I was thrilled to be asked this, our biggest goal with my film 'Call Them Athletes' was to find someone interested in funding a larger project. However, that company is so massive I am not positive they will want to proceed. But, knowing that a company of that size was interested to begin with, makes me confident that someone will want to move forward. From this point, should I be reaching out to other production companies? I know this could be a very successful series, I just need the biggest element- $$ and resources. Any advice on how I could proceed from here is more than welcome!

Do you have something in writing with this person? If so, does it say that you can go to other companies? If they are a large company, it may just take time. Good luck to you though, great to have someone ask that question for sure.

You're right Torin, if one company, particularly a big one, is interested, be confident that others may be too. You're completely free to pitch it to as many companies as you like until you sign a deal. If more than one want to do it, what a great position to be in! If you have representation, why not pitch direct to streamers/broadcasters?

One of the first lessons to be learnt is ‘don’t make decisions for other people or businesses’. Only feed them your positivity, as if you sound negative they may feel that you are not ready to work at their level. Let them decide if they want to proceed. And yes, bear in mind what Xochi Blymyer said and check any agreement you’ve made with them.

It's awesome that you got that reaction, Torin Ives - so good to have that type of response to your work. You should feel good about that. And the community is giving you good advice here. If you have not signed an agreement yet you are free and clear to take the project to other companies and this is a good time to pursue that as you have real interest from a big company. Until you have signed a deal, you are free to share it with anyone you want.
I am looking for major funding for my sci-fi thriller "The Emperor of Flying Cars." There are many true elements to this story. I have a full copywritten screenplay. Does anyone here want to read it for possible acquisition and development?

You miss one hundred percent of the shots you don't take. Saying "I think they'll pass" is tantamount to you making their mind up for them. Hand them the idea and let them decide if they like or not. Don't decide for them before you even try. Yes, you may get a lot of "no." But it only takes one yes to set you off. "One tree can make a thousand matches, but all it takes to burn down a thousand trees is one match."
