The presentation of words on the page is as important as their economy. This isn't about format but about engaging the reader, who is your primary audience until the film is made.

Why does it matter? One page equals one minute of screen time, whether it's a dinner conversation or a car chase. This is achieved by writing within industry format and 'down the page' rather than across it.

Here is where you add your ‘secret sauce.’

Great points in the blog, Jacob N. Stuart! I used to be so concerned with white space in my scripts that I held back when writing action lines, and readers weren't engaging with my scripts as much. Now, I don't hold back when writing action lines. Some of my action lines are longer (less white space in my scripts), but they're impactful and pull readers in.
