Great trailer, Hatem Manea! The movie looks thrilling! The trailer makes me wanna see Gray and Golden! I'm a Stage 32 Lounge Moderator. I wanted to let you know I moved your post from the Screenwriting Lounge to the Filmmaking/Directing Lounge since it has more to do with filmmaking (feedback on a trailer). Let me know if you have any questions.
Terrific trailer, Hatem Manea - I love how you create such palpable tension from the first frame. Bravo. Have you completed the film? What is your plan with Gray And Golden?
@Sam Sokolow Thank you I really appreciate it. There is nothing left of the film except the final touches. I'm thinking of participating in big festivals like Sundance or Cannes. Etc. Would you recommend something specific
Two minor things - The sound was not great on the scene where he is in the chair talking on the phone. It just needs to be rebalanced (everything else sounds great). And I think the "upside" effect would work better if it was slowly rotating counter-clockwise (instead of the flip-up) with a rope tension sound effect. just my two cents. But all in all, really well done.
Hatem Manea that's a good plan. I recommend starting with this Stage 32 webinar on how to get your project into film festivals. Greg is an amazing resource: https://www.stage32.com/education/search?term=fesitvals&h=how-to-get-your-project-into-film-festivals
I'm happy to recommend some other ideas, as well, either here or you can always email me directly at edu@stage32.com.
Looks like you have the makings of an exciting cat-and-mouse action sequence. Is there anything else shot yet? Everything in the trailer seems to be from one sequence.
The name of the movie should appear in the trailer, best at the end.
The action music is drowning out the narration a bit at the beginning. Can’t understand every word.
The action music is more exciting than it should be during the parts when we’re just watching a man walk.
What does it mean that reality is not what it appears… that things are upside down? I’m not seeing any visuals that support that.
Mike Boas , yes Mr. Mike , I thank you about your good notes .
Yes, everything is upside down, just focus on the final scenes a bit. Pay attention to the movement of the arrow in the elevator it's down while the numbers goes up , as well as the scene where one of the characters fires a pistol, but the bullet appears to come from the other person's gun. Additionally, in the last scene, when the hero enters the hotel, his clothes change what's white turn to black and what's black turn to white.
@Hatem Slick & intriguing. Neo noir feel adds to thriller. Your play with visual colour & words is cool, small details right down to the 2 pairs shoes in lift. The upside down world & everything not what it seems makes me want to know more. I’d watch this.
