Hi all,
I'm one year into my engagement on Stage 32 and overall it has been a great experience. I predominantly work in unscripted as a producer, writer, and director.
Since joining S32 I have ordered script coverage on my first dramatic screenplay by selecting a varied group of executives (women, men, lit managers, development execs, story editors) in order to get a wide range of insight into what resonates, works, doesn't, and to see if there is a common thread. It's been a invaluable experience.
The scorecard question: I understand what it means to "pass" on a project or writer. But, what does a "consider" actually mean? What are you being considered for? The person doing the coverage would consider you for a project? Consider working on your screenplay? Same question for a "recommend."
Just curious. Thank you!
Steven

Hi, Steven R Mitchell. Hope you're doing great. "What are you being considered for? The person doing the coverage would consider you for a project? Consider working on your screenplay?" I think so. I think it's the same thing for a "recommend." You'll probably get for sure answers in the comments, but if you don't, I suggest emailing success@stage32.com.

Thanks Maurice. I'll see what shows up and if need be, contact the Success Team. And if you are being considered, how do you follow up?

You're welcome, Steven R Mitchell. Sorry, I'm not sure how to follow up. I'm thinking Stage 32 would follow up with the writer.

Consider writer simply means that they would consider you for future projects or be interested in reading more of your work - they see the potential in your writing. Recommend means they see they would recommend you for assignments or to other execs.

Hi Steven. When I got a Consider from a script reading service, they explained me it wasn't the same as Recommend; it meant I had to make revisions to my work and resubmit it for coverage. I did that and got a Recommend. But it might not be the same across readers, so I'd suggest asking them directly.

Thanks Richard and Ingrid. That clarifies things. Not sure how I would follow up for clarity of intentions, but I can cross that bridge when I have collated the various thoughts. I want to improve the screenplay but not chase my tail.

Richard Kelly the producing I have done is primarily for other companies that have their funding in place and require a showrunner. I'll check out your site, but not sure I can offer what you are looking for.

Too many "Recommends" that prove out not to be good bets can lead to job loss. They are relatively rare, for that reason if no other.
