About Steven

Steven is a producer, director and editor of hundreds of hours of programming in the unscripted and documentary genres.He is making a new foray into dramatic screenwriting. His 'SHADOW IN HAWTHORN BAY' was a finalist in the Golden Script International screenwriting Competition 2024.

He is currently researching and writing his second screenplay based on the critically acclaimed novel, 'THE BIRTH OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF ANTARCTICA' by John Calvin Batchelor

Previously, he developed, launched, and series produced five seasons of Food Network Canada’s, You Gotta Eat Here! [152x 30) and three seasons [52x30] of Everyday Exotic.

The man is a passionate storyteller and multi-award winner who led his YGEH! production team to two “Best Lifestyle” Canadian Screen Awards. He received “Best Direction” for the documentary, Youth & Crime: Beyond the Headlines at Worldfest Houston, and “Best Musical” at both Worldfest Houston and the New York International Independent Film Festival for his, Wendell Ferguson’s Cranky Christmas concert film.

Steven has been a key creative on many successful international productions. The Littlest Hobo, The Care Bear Movie, Danger Bay, Lorne Greene’s New Wilderness (Emmy Winner), My Secret Identity, Designer Guys, and The Smart Woman Survival Guide. He has had the pleasure of working closely with and directing celebrity talent such as Muppet creator Jim Henson, Jerry O’Connell, Lorne Greene, Reuben “Hurricane” Carter, and six-time Canadian Country Guitar Player of the Year, Wendell Ferguson.

Unique traits: Steven is an avid adventure traveller – think Antarctica, Iceland, Scandinavia, Argentina/Chile/Patagonia, the Canadian Rockies & Alaska; he enjoys hiking, sailing, guitars/mandolins, motorcycles, dog sledding and cooking inventive comfort food - "2011 Central Canada's Chili Champion." He is very proud of having rescued and raised 3 Siberian huskies, 2 German shepherds, a “Tom” cat, and his latest–a very large Maremma livestock guardian dog named, CHEF.
