Steven is a highly creative, self-motivated, and award-winning Series Producer, Writer, and Director who has launched many successful series, primarily in the factual space; Lorne Greene’s New Wilderness (Emmy Winner), You Gotta Eat Here! (2x Canadian Screen Award winner), Everyday Exotic (hosted by celebrity chef Roger Mooking), Designer Guys, Design Rivals, Wendell Ferguson's Cranky Christmas (a concert documentary) and various other documentaries on societal issues.
He got his start in scripted television with iconic Canadian productions; The Littlest Hobo, The Care Bear Movie, Danger Bay, Matrix, My Secret Identity, and The Smart Woman Survival Guide.
Steven has had the pleasure of working closely with and directing celebrity talent such as Muppet creator Jim Henson, Jerry O’Connell, Lorne Greene, Reuben “Hurricane” Carter, and six-time Canadian Country Guitar Player of the Year, Wendell Ferguson.
His recent feature-length screenplay, ‘SHADOW IN HAWTHORN BAY,’ was a finalist in the Golden Script International screenwriting Competition 2024.
He is currently researching and writing his second screenplay, SKALLAGRIM ICE-WASTER (A tale of Antarctica), based on the critically acclaimed dystopian novel by John Calvin Batchelor, 'THE BIRTH OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF ANTARCTICA.'
Steven's writing interests lean heavily on period films, the supernatural, and ancient mythology.
Unique traits: Steven is an avid adventure traveller – think Antarctica, Iceland, Scandinavia, Argentina/Chile/Patagonia, the Canadian Rockies & Alaska; he enjoys hiking, sailing, guitars/mandolins, motorcycles, dog sledding and cooking inventive comfort food - "2011 Central Canada's Chili Champion." He is very proud of having rescued and raised 3 Siberian huskies, 2 German shepherds, a “Tom” cat, and his latest–a very large Maremma livestock guardian dog named, CHEF.
