My pitch is generating interest and I am receiving high marks on my pitches for my unscripted TV series but still no meetings and no takers. I keep hearing that it is a "hard sell." I think if I could find an agent who could get me on talk shows, it would generate incredible interest in my unique abilities that help people and their animals to heal their lives with the messages I receive. Any thoughts?
Hi, Terri Jay. Congratulations on your pitch generating interest and getting high marks for your unscripted TV series! Have you used IMDbPro to search for an agent?

You might already be doing this, Terri Jay, but you could always start by promoting yourself and your abilities on social media platforms. Raise awareness and your own profile, gain a bit of a following and go from there!

Hey Terri Jay , agents these days don't go out and hustle work for clients. They field incoming calls for established clients. You'd do better looking for a manager, but that's also difficult. I don't know much about what your scripted show is, except that it involves animal communication and healing. Have you ever thought of just producing your own show and getting a YouTube channel? You could do this yourself, very inexpensively and build up an audience. This could lead to your show getting picked up by a network. But even if it doesn't, you could be making your show right away, getting it out there, getting sponsors and making money. Personally, I'm addicted to watching shows on YouTube. There's some fascinating content. I actually have an interior design client who has a YouTube channel where she tells murder stories and she's rich from that. She recently bought her new house for $4M. She has 100% control of her content. Something to think about. :-)

Maureen, thanks for the suggestions. I am totally inept at anything techie. I would need to find a partner that could edit and upload the shows. I am passionate about my work as it produces miracles every day. I just need to find someone who would do partners with me.

Nick, I am on Facebook mostly. I am totally inept with anything technical and I have been trying to find someone who wants to be a partner. I can do my work while they tape it, edit it and put it on YouTube and other social media. I'm maxed out on friends and I have a Terri Jay Cowgirl Shaman page that I hate using because of Meta.

Maurice, as I have written, I am totally inept at anything techinical. I am not on IMDB Pro and have been frustrated trying to get my own credits on there. So I couldn't even begin to search for an agent.

Terri Jay I totally get it (with the tech stuff). I feel your pain. Is there a college close to where you live where you could contact film/tv production students who want to start building their demo reels? You may even be able to shoot at the school's soundstage. I did that with students at New York Film Academy in Burbank. I was shooting a documentary and got a student from there to direct (she was brilliant!) and we used their soundstage, equipment and crew, all for free, and it was very professional looking. Plus, kids are great with tech stuff, so they can help you with setting up your IMDB page and other social media stuff.

Terri Jay Western Nevada College offers TV production courses: "Television Production covers the techniques for developing, preproducing, producing, and post-producing television for documentaries or narratives. It also includes the creative aspects of field and studio production, such as directing and producing. WNC is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. You can contact WNC by email at publicrecords@wnc.edu."

Maureen, those are great ideas. I have to shoot on location where the horses, dogs and cats are. I would really like to find an experienced adult who also knows how to promote the show, get us sponsors and start bringing in the funds. I can shoot the readings all day. It's what comes after that is the challenge. I have no idea on how to use hashtags, what they are for, etc.

Terri Jay, there's a book called 500 Social Media Marketing Tips, that has great advice for understanding how to use social media to brand yourself. I personally own a copy! It's available on Amazon- https://www.amazon.com/500-Social-Media-Marketing-Tips/dp/179279603X?cri...

Looking for local interns who can benefit with profit sharing down the line so I can start my own YouTube show. I am giving up on Stage 32 for now. Western Nevada College was no help and told me that they don't have a film department. I tried UNR looking for interns but no takers yet.

Have you thought of maybe filming a self funded pilot? It is currently working for my colleague and I. We will be screening our latest documentary on a coupe of broadcast networks and film festivals. The pilot low budget pilot would be a great pitch and way to get things off the ground.

Terri Jay sorry! I didn't see your response to me last month. I know all that marketing stuff is a whole ball of wax. There are people on Fiverr, Upwork (and other freelance sites) where you can find people who specialize in online marketing. Some of them work from India, Philippines, Ukraine, etc., and they can afford to work very reasonably. Could be a good way to start and once you start making some money, you could hire someone local with a bigger outreach.

While it is a great suggestion, my reading business is down by 60%. I lost a lot of clients on Facebook due to politics and I am struggling terribly just getting bills paid and horses fed. I have no resources at the present time. That was why I was trying to get interns who could wait for profit sharing once the advertising and sponsorships would come in on YouTube.
Hi, Terri Jay. Hope you don't give up on Stage 32 for now. Here are blogs about networking that might help you find interns: www.stage32.com/blog/tags/networking-41

Thanks but they have to be local so I have been advertising local.
You're welcome, Terri Jay. You might find local interns on here if you keep networking.
