A re-introduce myself post

These days, this week, the rest of this year, I have a feature documentary going into theaters, an animated feature finally out of pre-production, going into production, 2 pilots in active talks (both from connections on Stage 32 who hired me), and two features in pre-production, but what keeps me most busy is my initiative to rethink the way Hollywood invests in filmed entertainment. This is an expansion of the book that I wrote last year that has evolved into courses and speaking engagements and a plethora of new resources and contacts supporting me and see the big picture of what it is I’m trying to do.

The shortest version of my bio is this: I got my start in the industry with Walt Disney Studios, I am a writer-producer-artist with over 30 produced credits and many in various stages of production, including a slate of films that utilize the impact investment model I wrote about in my book, Values; Rethinking Hollywood Film Investment for Maximum ROI & Impact. https://a.co/d/5F5CRfC

In short, I'm a card-carrying shit stirrer. Anyone else like to shake things up?

Nice to meet you Laurie Ashbourne . You have been busy indeed. Time to reap the fruit of your labor.

Maurice Vaughan

That's incredible, Laurie Ashbourne! Congratulations on all the things you've got going! I'm looking forward to seeing your feature documentary when it comes out (and all of your projects)! I like to shake things up with my scripts sometimes.

Melanie Lang

Your last few sentences had me rolling. I hope my script will shake the public education system once it's produced. Tell me more about your book and how it works from a screenwriter's perspective.

Cee Whirx

Congrats Laurie Ashbourne! Hope we can work together on a new film project one day.

Laurie Ashbourne

Melanie Lang Gah… imagine if we had a public educated with a system that was smart, or even logical -- I'd love to know more about your script!

As far as using my model from a screenwriting perspective, it can provide Screenwriters extra ammunition in proving that they have an audience for their film, which is the appeal of I.P. based material (that it brings an audience), in using my principles you can do the same thing, if not more, and at the same time, do some good in the world.

Congratulations! And Bravo! @stage32!

Laurie Ashbourne thanks for the info on your book. Just found it on Amazon with your link. Will check it out for sure. I was just working on writing out something about my target audience and how it's wider than most might realize at first glance.

My script tells the story of a teacher whose troubled past mirrors the challenges faced by one of her current students. As she navigates her own journey of forgiveness, she must also take on the school system and child services, which are resistant to helping the student in need. Together, the teacher and student find their voices, standing up against the obstacles in their lives.

Sounds like a powerful story, Melanie Lang

Great to see you, Laurie Ashbourne! Are you coming to AFF this year?

Laurie Ashbourne

Hi Ashley - Not 100% sure on AFF; I change my mind on the daily. It's a strong "maybe." :-)

Nick Phillips

Always do some very cool things Laurie Ashbourne! I'd expect nothing less!
