Michel Gondry’s latest is cut-out animation, which you rarely seen done for an entire feature film.

MAYA, GIVE ME A TITLE has a charming concept and looks to be wildly entertaining.
Shooting “top-down” is something I do with my animation students. It still requires creating assets, but is less ambitious than creating 3D sets and free-standing characters.

Thanks for sharing the trailer, Mike Boas. I'm looking forward to seeing MAYA, GIVE ME A TITLE! I like cut-out animation.
You're right. It's a kind of stop motion I rarely see. I think the last time I saw cut-out animation was when I was a kid. I used to watch Life With Loopy. It was a segment of Nickelodeon's anthology show KaBlam! www.wholesomeproductsfilms.com/life-with-loopy

I don't think I've seen this style of animation before or at least it might have been years since seeing something like this. An interesting style, I like it though. Can you explain the top down method a little more? First time hearing this concept.

It’s a pretty simple setup with a copy stand and a camera mounted to shoot down.
Here’s a photo from one of our set ups.
