Your Stage : Film Adaptation Screenwriter by Makaila Armstrong

Film Adaptation Screenwriter

Hey everybody, Happy New Year! I'd like to come on here and ask any screenwriters, specifically in the Houston area, but if you are not in Houston, that's okay, to help me in writing my film adaptation script. I have tried to get past the blockage in my brain but I somehow keep seeing it from a reader standpoint and not a filmmaker standpoint. I need fresh eyes. It's a dark, taboo romance book, so if that's your jam, then message me. Thank you.

How much are you paying?

Hi, Makaila Armstrong. I’m a Stage 32 Lounge Moderator. I wanted to let you know I moved your post from the Screenwriting Lounge to the Your Stage Lounge. The Screenwriting Lounge isn’t the place to find a co-writer. It’s a place to discuss screenwriting, share content about screenwriting (like videos and articles), interact with fellow writers, and offer tips/advice on screenwriting and the business of screenwriting.

You could post an ad on the Job Board (www.stage32.com/find-jobs).

You could also search for a co-writer in the Browse Members section (www.stage32.com/people?name=&location=&roles=Screenwriter).

Let me know if you have any questions. Hope you find a co-writer! Happy New Year!

Love that candor, Dan Maxx. Lots of 'freebie wannas" on here. Usually it is something like 'you should be honored to work for free on my amazing project', not saying this poster is doing that...why won't people pay us when they pay their plumber with no qualms?

Makaila Armstrong

Dan MaxXx Valid question, it depends on how much the studio is going offer me and my co-writer (in upfront pay, royalties and other pay). I have a meeting set with the studio in the next week, so I'll know those details then or in the meetings following it. This is a serious project, I'm not doing it for free so I don't expect anyone else to.

Makaila Armstrong cool, then ask your lawyer to draw contracts first and then have writers audition for you 'cause you got $$$. Ask for samples, sign NDA, listen to takes of your idea. Maybe post an ad here and state what genre & schedules. GL!

LOL-after her comment I asked for an add and offered to send her a sample script. Sorry, Makaila, for generalizing...it is just that I've worked for free SO many times.
