Screenwriting : Crying by Michael David

Michael David

Crying

Have you ever written something so emotional in a script (dialogue, or a scene) that hit the mark and found your face streaming with tears as you wrote it?

This happened to me for only the second time yesterday.

To me, this is the ultimate sign you got things right! (unless you are writing a comedy)

Maurice Vaughan

I have, Michael David. I get emotional when something bad or tragic happens to a character I care about or the scene/dialogue is about my past. And sometimes it's laughs instead of tears.

Pamela De Nicolo

Yes. I know for me it's because I have a background in performance as well so sometimes when I'm writing, I go so much into the character that it makes me emotional. It's a beautiful thing

Evelyn Warnitz

Definitely. Feeling all parts and characters of writing your story is a blessing mostly and bring joy, no matter which kind the tears are made of. :)

Matthew Tallacksen

These are such beautiful moments of affirmation for us as writers. I like the goosebumps as well, when that new scene really hits you in the feels. We are not only writers, but our own audience.

Patrick Koepke

I tend to get emotional at the end of the story, because as I write I'm the very first audience, and you only ever experience a story for the first time once, so as a project comes to an end, especially one that means a lot to me, I tend to get sad that's over.

Banafsheh Esmailzadeh

Not yet for my screenplays but definitely for my currently-on-hiatus novel. Best part is that it's in the climax and I still have to build up to it :')

Sydney S

So happy for you! I love when emotions take over and everything comes full circle like that—it’s such a personal experience. It really shows how powerful and meaningful your story is!

Sam Rivera

Many times! Honestly whenever I write anything deep and reflective I do!
