SIMPLE SELLS!!

Just look At:

A Working Man

The BeeKeeper

Clean

Nobody

&

John Wick

These are all simple, yet Complex Characters. Limited locations and cast.

One Name Titles. Not Complicated Gobly-Goop!!

Thoughts?

Maurice Vaughan

You're right, Mark Films. Simple sells. Simple stories with complex characters. Limited locations and cast are ideal for micro-budget scripts and some low-budget scripts. Writers don't have to use one-word titles, but they're great and easy to remember.

Mark Films

I totally Agree with you Maurice Vaughan and this has been my mindset since I saw the first John Wick film and the others as well.

Robert Franklin Godwin III

Mark Films Yuck! Aim for the lowest bar and you will get there. This thinking isn't a slam against the creators. The premise is that audiences are stupid, unintellectual and want simple-minded stories. This is the thinking that would never get OPPPENHEIMER greenlighted. Yes, there is an opportunity for the hacks who write to sell. There is a living there. Even a decent one. But the repression of message is the wrong signal, the wrong direction. I reject Mark's premise and the implications of simple minded movies as the only path.

Eric Christopherson

Well McCartney's "Yesterday" is a simple melody but it's genius nonetheless. I think simple sells when there's a spark of genius that's easy to grasp, a fresh hook. The first time I heard "simple sells" was during a consult with manager Jake Wagner via Stage 32 when he thought my script's plot was too convoluted.

Holly Fouche

In all honesty, Mark Deuce, I think it depends. One hand, it does in fact work, but sometimes people love to immerse themselves in unique worlds with complex lore such as Five Nights at Freddy’s(the games, not necessarily the movie) and Gravity Falls.

In every field "Simple, yet good" is the hardest.

There are plenty of script, plenty of inventions, and plenty of products, that provide amazing value, but very hard to grasp

I think a middle ground take is: Make Something Great, then Simplify.

Iterating your creation until the genius idea remains, but it is easily figured out should be our goal :)

Mark Films

I totally agree with you Robert Franklin Godwin III that film is an art, for instance the John Wick Franchise is pretty deep and the artistic element is impressive which is why a worldwide fan base want more, hence why they are making number 5. The Beekeeper and Nobody is the same, Juss Say´in. Have a great weekend!

Mark Films

Their ya go Eric Christopherson but we can make the world deep and beautiful Like John Wick´s.

Mark Films

Do you think John ]Wick falls into that category Holly Fouche

Mark Films

I disagree with you Scott Sawitz and why are these films you say are trash are so successful? With a massive fanbase?

Mark Films

Love that concept Dami | Screenwriter and it all starts with a name like: Cleaner, Nobody, Wick...

Banafsheh Esmailzadeh

100% agreed. Hopefully I can nail it one day too lol

Robert Franklin Godwin III

Mark Films Mark, read my intitial post again. I don't think you agree with anything I wrote, expressed or implied. Your micro view of the industry business flawed.

Mark Films

Sorry Bro Scott Sawitz miss read your comment, thought you said that they messed these roles up. My Bad! Lol.

Mark Films
