I'm halfway through my first documentary film, "Scouts Honor: Inside a Marching Brotherhood". The majority of the material has been shot and we are in the early stages of post (managing media, prepping for picture editing). It's a subject that I'm passionate about and this whole project has certainly been a challenging and rewarding. We have a deadline that we need to hit so additional funding is important right now. Our production did an IndieGoGo campaign last January, and ever since we've been accepting contributions on our website. We're trying to break out if the small fan base we currently have. Have you tried PowerToGive? It's a fundraising website that is pretty useful for us. Your local arts council may be a way into that site.
Hi Mac- It really seems like you need an Angel. Let me suggest that you start by building an email mailing list using Facebook, Stage 32 and LinkedIn. I would also target organizations who have an interest in your subject matter. Don't hit the organizations up for money though, most don't have any to spare. Instead, see if they will share their membership lists with you or give you an introduction to their Angels. Most won't so be prepared for rejection. But then every "no," gets you closer to "yes."
