Use every network except the Devil's network... but usually one falls into that net by accident or tom-foolery

I've used a few. In general, I find meeting people face to face works best, but LinkedIn and all the rest can help keep in touch. The thing is not the network, but the connection. Some people just add connections as a kind of gaming, and that doesn't work (no matter where the connection was made). But, if you start with conversation or a work projet, then it might end up being a useful connection.
