Hey I am a new to screenwriting and looking forward to work with other writers and filmmakers. What would be the most efficient way to network and communicate with others in the business?
Efficient? First I thought I had was probably online, but I tend to make more meaningful contacts in less time/effort when I go to in-person local film-related events (Austin). Since you are in Baltimore I would try this http://www.meetup.com/screenwriters-292/ ! Just do it man.
Also, you can try Hollywood Original Writers group on Facebook. We are chatty and helpful when it comes to formatting, plot or any other issues you may have.
Hi Shawn, which genre do you like writing in? I'm mainly into Fantasy/Drama films for children, and have directed a few shorts, I'm based in the UK, would be great to connect!
To Jonnie thanks for your response. I don't normally write in a specific genre but I enjoy writing comedy and romance the most if I had to choose and for all ages. To Mario I definitely will thanks for your help friend.
You're probably using one of the best ways. You might like the message boards at Moviebytes, and the contest information. Check out my list of screenwriter-friendly links at http://www.airborne-entertainment.com/HollywoodLINKS.htm
