Toronto Film Fest Gets Tough on Film Premieres

Richard "RB" Botto

Gonna be interesting to see how this all shakes out. An intriguing decision to say the least.

Lucia Cascioli

You have my attention on this one. If a film's powers that be agree to premiere a movie at TIFF or any other festival and then choose another venue, it doesn't look good. The logistics will be a nightmare however. Think of the scheduling! Telluride is so close to TIFF that it could cause havoc trying to move a movie from the first four days to the second half of the festival. Here is a longer article on this subject from today's Toronto Star by veteran film critic, Peter Howell: http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/movies/2014/01/28/tiff_delivers_ult...

I was hoping you'd ring in on this one, Lucia. Figured you'd have your finger on the pulse.

Great article, Lucia. This is truly an interesting situation. Can see both sides of this. Thanks for posting!

Thanks for the info. I've been to TIFF years ago and really enjoyed it. I wasn't aware of the "news behind the scenes." Thanks for keeping me in the know.
