Have recently had some magical experiences as a Script Consultant, which has evolved into collaborating and co-writing/rewriting scripts. When that 'creative synchronicity' kicks in...wow! Just wondering whether other writers prefer writing alone, or collaboratively? Or does it depend on the type of project?
I'd love to collaborate in a screenwriting idea based on my book.

Writing 'Specs' alone helps your craft evolve. Writing in collaboration adds further essential dimensions to that. Collaboration with another author is also a different mindset to collaboration with a production team. Doctoring is good because it adds broader experience over a shorter timescale. Same applies to type e.g. Genre; True Story; Adaptation etc. Movie making is all about collaboration. Sooner or later - it's crucial.

I like writing solo, but I too would welcome a co-write, as there would be more opportunity to initiate and develop creativity. And writing a screenplay for a feature film is darn hard work! Cheers. Di
I am always open to both.

It's a very ethically gray area if you are a paid professional script consultant and then become a co-writer on your clients projects. These are very different things. It's like the script consultant who attached themselves to all their clients projects as a producer but charges to do so.
I have no idea how anyone writes collaboratively. I can take direction but truly writing WITH is a concept that just makes me stare into space.
I like to write solo but I enjoy reaching out to my peers and ask for opinions on how I'm going or if the story is making sense to them.
Good idea. Writing without a true sense of your material is like throwing darts.
I am a solitary writer, but I have always wondered what it would be like to write w/ a partner or a team and how it works. How exactly does it work? Do you pick what parts to fill in or do you write it out, compare and swap certain parts?
I have always written alone but I am finding out the hard way that it is better to write a television series with more writers. I live in Germany so it it very hard to find writers. I would love to have a writing partner.

I've done both. I love brainstorming with my partner. He has great visual ideas and comes up with some very cool plot twists. I have learned so much from his style and experience. But really all screenwriting is a collaboration. Even when I have written solo, the director or producer adds his input and asks for changes. It's only a solo gig until it's optioned or in preproduction!

Collaboration is a great way to begin learning how to accept other ideas and criticism. It's also a great way to help fight writers block.

Working on a TV pilot which although sometimes borders on madness, has been a necessary solo process. Speaking of collaborations however, mine have mainly been in the songwriting field...some inspiring, some like getting my teeth drilled. What I like best? When egos are shelved, feeling free to throw all ideas into the pot no matter how stupid you think they may be and voila! A delicious stew...or not, but all great learning!

For me it depends on the project. I'm working on expanding my second book into a "brand" and it definitely requires the collaboration of others. :)
It depends. There are scripts I will need somebody to assist me
