Here is a pitch for my screenplay based on my novel, The Thirty-ninth Man: On December 26, 1862, at ten-o-clock in the morning a man named William Duley cut a single rope and 38 Dakota Sioux fell to their deaths. It remains today as the largest mass execution in the history of the nation and is known to precious few. Even fewer know that the gallows was set for thirty-nine. President Abraham Lincoln ensured that the thirty-ninth noose would not be filled. I wrote the historical novel about the 1862 US-Dakota War and am now developing the screenplay. I am excited to be a part of Stage 32. I feel honored to be in your organization and I look forward to learning about the film industry and becoming an active member.
