Quick question.... once a screenplay is submitted to a contest... does that mean you can't ever do another rewrite on that same script until the contest is over?
you can do with it whatever you want to do with it. However, I think many contests do not accept revised submissions. You are free to make the changes but you cannot submit the changed script to the contest that year. However, there are some contests which allow you to submit a revised script if you make it to the finalists stage.
Varun is right, only a few comps allow you to resubmit a revised version of your script if it makes it to the final round. However, always best to rewrite no matter what comp you've entered. This way your script will be in better shape if it does well and you get read requests.
It's your script you can rewrite all you want, in fact some contests offer valuable feedback. You should know the rules of any particular contest but 99% will not accept re-submissions. So make sure it is up to snuff before submitting.
Remember one thing: writing is re-writing. Keep re-writing until you feel really satisfied...Submitting to some contests like PAGE International awards gets you valuable feedback.
No, definitely keep rewriting. Many contests - if you get to the second or third round - allow you to submit a rewritten draft (like Page does). So, keep rewriting! Always.
Thank you all. I literally decided at the 11th hour to send in my screenplay to Page. Or, wait another year... I know it's not perfect, so I also applied for the feedback bonus. This is my very FIRST submission to any Contest. So thanks for your feedback, because I wondered once you've submitted, if it's set in stone. No pun intended, the title is STONE DRIVE. Lol.

I've entered Page for the first time too, but in the TV pilot category.
