Who's interested in getting together to discuss loglines, synopsis/treatments and road blocks to your success? I'm starting a new meet up to focus on these topics. A Chinese restaurant near where I live in SF has agreed to host the meeting and would like to have a head-count. I'm thinking we would meet once a month on a Sunday morning possibly starting Aug. 24. Who's in?
You should touch base with Jonathon Kramer - he spear headed a successful San Fran meetup a couple of months ago :)
I will, Thanks, Julie
Just did a search for him and I guess he left Stage 32
He's right here: http://www.stage32.com/profile/174309/about

Would love to meet with other Stage 32 members in San Francisco.
Is this the 3-year anniversary meetup that I was emailed about?
I'm game.

Just got this notice today and hope your meeting went well last weekend. I co-produced a very successful meetup the end of Feb at 32Ten Studios, San Rafael with over 60 members attending. What is the capacity of the room? I was contemplating doing this again this Fall since the screening room is beautiful and holds up to 130 people. If I can make it next month I'll do my best.
I met some valuable contacts at the last February's Stage32 meetup. I'm looking forward to attending the next cluster of filmmakers. Count me in.
I really enjoyed the MeetUp in February at 32Ten Studios. I'm interested in any other MeetUps in the SF area.

Glad to see other members benefited from the 32Ten Studios meetup. Greg told me last month he'd welcome us back again this Fall. Unfortunately, Barri Evins, who gave a good seminar at the meeting has moved back to LA but there are other speakers who are willing. Glad to see the interest in this one too :)
Yes, thank you, Johnathan. SFs last Meetup was really wonderful, thanks to your great efforts .
I'm interested, depending where this is. As long as it's not on a Thursday, since I'll have classes for 10 weeks starting Sept. 24.
Looks like there's a lot of interest to get another meetup going. Someone take the lead and choose a new time and place so you can celebrate our 3 year anniversary :) anyone volunteer?
Julie.. I have contacted Greg Maloney the COO and partner at 32Ten studios to learn the availability. I would guess the soonest would be sometime in October.
This sounds very positive..count me IN !
Thanks Jonathan - maybe you guys can all put together a less formal meetup at a bar or restaurant so we can include photos of it in our 3 year anniversary party here in LA? Just a thought :) We'd love to have your area featured!
I'll have to let Karen spearhead this then.. I'm unaware of any local restaurants with the space, nor willing to donate at such short notice. We do have a recreation center here in Mill Valley, but not sure if that's convenient. The big benefit here is a little thing called parking with no fee, regardless of where we might hold it. Sunday mornings for me are bad due to a regular commitment I've had for over a year though. Stay tuned.
I have a feeling that the meet-up I proposed is very different from the one Jonathan organized. I am interested in getting together with a smaller group of writers who want to focus on log lines, treatments and synopsis. Jonathan, what did you focus on at your meet-up and how was it run? Thank you. k
Personally, I would like to keep the meet-up small so that everyone can participate within a 90 minute time-frame. I would like to see the group get together regularly -the same time, same place on the same Sunday of the month. I will look into confirming with the Chinese restaurant near my house that has plenty of free parking at the Safeway next door. I will try to schedule our first meeting for either the 21st or 28th of Sept. at 10 A.M. Once the date is confirmed with the restaurant, I will post the location here and if everyone wants to be part of a secondary email list, we can get that started at the mtg. and announce it here as well. Thank you all for your interest. I'm excited to meet everyone and talk about your progress with your scripts. -K

Karen.. Since the community is composed of professionals from all areas of the industry our goal was to provide an environment where they could all connect. It was not focused purely on script development. Barri Evins, a well known writer, producer and consultant gave a seminar on building relationships in the industry which as you know is crucial for success. In my eyes as writer, producer and collaborator I feel this approach is the best of all worlds. Of course I also understand your objectives and think it's great! My intention is to produce another event as good or better at 32Ten since the screening room seats over 130 and the studio is a large space as well. Hope that helps.
I am interested in both Jonathan's larger MeetUp (the last one was great) and Karen's smaller monthly meeting for writers. I am available on the 21st, but out of the country on the 28th. Thanks to you both for organizing these get-togethers.
Love these ideas. Groups are so beneficial. Please let me know where and when. If I am able, I would love to be apart of it.
Please let me know when the next SF/Marin meet-up will be. I was out of town for the last one. Will emails go out?
I would also be interested.
When have you scheduled a second meeting? In the Bay Area?
If anyone wants to attend my event on Monday the 22nd all Stage 32ers are welcome http://www.theArtofActiveNetworking.com I am a director/producer and this is the best networking event in the bay area. All are certainly welcome, we focus on helping you to do better!
PS: If you ever need a speaker, I am happy to help.
Is there a Meet Up meeting set?
