Hi everyone - please make sure you take photos today holding a Stage 32 London sign and email them to me so we can post it during our Stage 32 3 year anniversary party here in LA. Email to: julie@stage32.com Also, we are working on a new meetup section. It is an enormous programming undertaking, so please be patient with us as we develop it :)
Thanks Mark (David) for taking the picture and emailing it to Julie! @Julie...Sorry, we didn't have a sign to put in the photo. But another meetup is being planned, so hopefully we'll have a sign for that one.
It's a super idea but I do feel venues should be chosen which are not too noisy. This was a fun evening but hopeless for networking at any distance with so much noise.
We are planning one in a basement of a good restaurant in October near COVENT garden with great for so we are negotiating with the Canadian owner on special discount now. Will send pics closer to confirming
Yesterday was a great meetup, only to noisy on this night. On earlier nights this place was fine. Only organise free meetups please, not ones where we are forced to order food, or in expensive clubs, because I think most of us actors don't have the cash for any of that !!!
What I wanted to say with the last comment is that the place we had is fine, if you are going to change it then not in a restaurant we have to order food to be there, just in a simple cheap pub of cafe (where we can have a secluded room to ourselves maybe)
Arhynn Others would be better at choosing a venue. Just somewhere reasonably priced and where we could talk across a table as well. I could only chat outside. Next time it may not be so warm.
I couldn't make last night unfortunately. Can I suggest a venue to try, The Carlton Cinema in Shaftesbury Avenue, W1. Downstairs they have a room with a bar for exclusive use. I'm a member of The Director's Guild Of Great Britain and they have most of their networking nights there.
I'm not sure about numbers of people at the Carlton. It's not a bad room, it has sofas all around its edge with occasional tables, at one end it has a long bar. They provide drinks if requested, or I think it can be a pay bar.
There's some talk about moving to a restuarant Personally I have no interest in dining at a restuarant. The aim , at the meeting, is to talk to interesting people. No 11 is a bar, with table service if required. You don't need to order anything. Unless you want to. They even provide water. The staff were constantly bringing extra chairs as the numbers grew. This was the 5 th meeting and I was told when I booked that it was going to be busy. The noise did mean I had to move every now and then to engage with someone new. It also meant that one person could not dominate a group. I think that was a big plus. If you wish to move I will not book for September. So let me know. Andy
Yes Andy...you are right-it's the Curzon Cinema. Haven't got a clue on cost, as I'm always invited for free drinks and networking as a member of the Director's Guild of Great Britain.
If I'm in London I'll try and make it.
It's booked. Andy
Thanks, Andy! See you then.
I will be there

@Richard I think we all agree on that! It was way too noisy last night....any ideas for a new venue?
It was a pleasure to meet everyone last night, shame I didn't get the opportunity to meet everyone personally but there's always next time!

maybe a place somewhere inside, where we can walk or stand around, but that also has tables, if you want to sit down
@ Allan, I agree. @Brian....That sounds good. I haven't been there. Does there need to be aminimum number of people?

Sounds perfect....there were about 20 of us last night and the group seems to be getting bigger.
