Expand commentI am new to screenwriting but I have a few tips that I would like to share.
1 - your story is the emotional journey of your characters.
2 - each character, like a real person, has a trauma from their past that they are compensating for or trying to repair. This wound can tell you everything you need to know about them. How they behave, what pisses them off, what they need to feel happy, what triggers them, etc.
3 - music can help you access your emotions and understand characters better.
4- READ SCRIPTS. This is something I didn't do enough of, so I am now doing that so I know how a script should read. This will show you how to keep descriptions and dialogue tight.
5- If the emotional journey of your character isn't enough to make someone get emotional, then why bother?
Hello from a former film student! I can't offer you any advice but to keep on trying and writing :) All the best to you!
