He studied classical music formally (played the cello in the symphony) and also performed on stage (guitar, 5-string banjo, mandolin) in various bands (rock, cover, and country) in a four-state region around Colorado.
After several years of scoring work in the San Francisco film community, he returned home to Colorado.
