A portal to an alleged heavenly realm is discovered and the whole world is lining up to go through it. Max, a curmudgeonly nihilism professor, would happily let the world jump to its death, if his own family didn’t also want to go through...without him. As society begins to crumble, Max makes it his mission to save the world - and his family - from itself. All he has to do is figure out the physics of how a magical portal to another realm works.
