About Matthew

I’m a screenwriter with a taste for writing for any medium, whether it’S TV, film or online, and in any genre, but especially horror, drama, action, comedy or a bastard hybrid of them all. My screenplays have won some competitions and placed in international contests. I am engaged with a number of producers who have my scripts in various degrees of development, from the shopping the script around international film festivals to get finance to co-writing original works right down to the “who are you and how did you get this number?”

My screenplay, the romantic dramedy "Out of Nowhere", about the relationship between two gay men, one of whom is a leading Aussie Rules football player too afraid to come out, won the Australian Writers Guild's 50th Anniversary "What's Love Got to Do With It?" National Screenwriting Competition. “Out of Nowhere” was most recently selected as the Grand Prize Winner in the 2019 LGBTQ Screenwriting Contest. My screenplay "Troy Town" has placed as quarter- and semi-finalist in international screenwriting competitions and was shortlisted in the Australians in Film Gateway LA Screenwriting Program. “Troy Town” was most recently selected as semi-finalist in the 2019 Edinburgh Screenwriting Competition and a finalist in the 2019 Big Apple Film Festival (BAFF) Screenwriting Competition.

Born in Melbourne, Australia, I live in country Victoria with my husband and our chocolate spoodle, Coco, who insists on being paid top dollar for her researching and co-writing skills. I was recently hired by a US production company for a screenplay rewrite on an existing project. I also want to write a book (or twenty), but at the moment am focussed on screenwriting.
