Six estranged friends reunite for one last bike trip across Sweden, but what begins as a nostalgic adventure soon turns into a test of endurance, exposing long-buried secrets, igniting new conflicts, and forcing them to confront the boundaries they've drawn between themselves and each other.
SYNOPSIS:
"Boundaries" follows six estranged childhood friends in their late 40s who reunite for a challenging bike trip to Treriksröset, where Sweden, Norway, and Finland meet. Micke, struggling with loneliness and financial issues, initiates the journey as a final adventure before succumbing to terminal cancer.
The group includes Sara, a high-powered lawyer; Tom, a stressed family man; Lisa, an insecure social media influencer; Axel, a socially awkward teacher; and Janne, a solitary artist. As they traverse the beautiful yet unforgiving Scandinavian wilderness, old tensions resurface and new conflicts emerge, all shadowed by the looming specter of Micke's illness.
Micke secretly orchestrates the loss of the others' phones, hoping to foster genuine connections away from modern distractions. The physical and emotional demands of the trip force each to confront their present selves against the backdrop of their shared past and Micke's mortality.
A severe accident pushes the group to its breaking point, leading to the shocking revelation of Micke's deception about his health. Stranded both physically and emotionally, the friends must navigate their way back to civilization while grappling with the weight of this betrayal, the value of their history, and the possibility of forgiveness.
"Boundaries" explores friendship, isolation, and the human need for connection in an increasingly disconnected world, challenging viewers to consider the lines we draw between ourselves and others, and the courage it takes to cross them - even in the face of life-altering deceptions.
