In the future the sun dies, London turns goth and moves underground and the world is ruled by vampires.

SYNOPSIS:

Dead Sun

1987. Clara Driscoll is a clever seventeen-year old A-Level student, a strong Empath and conduit for aliens and creatures visiting from other dimensions and times. She and her artist mother move from the South of the UK to the North West to the small lakeside town of Ravenshead in the beautiful Lake District. Both want a fresh start after her Clara has been bullied for her gifts and her artist mother’s separation from cheating film star husband. Before they leave Clara is visited by Lizard men from another world who try to kill her. She is rescued by another visitor, a tall young man with long blonde hair wearing a hooded cape coat and wielding a sword. Before she can find out who he is, he vanishes.

When Clara attends her new school at Ravenshead she makes friends with American Carter Grayson, Evie and their friends. Several girls have gone missing, feared kidnapped, Carter’s sister being one of them. Clara is determined to find out where the girls are but before she can, she and Carter are attacked in the woods by flesh eating creatures. The blonde rescuer, Darius Constantine, Lord Protector of Londinium helps them both to escape. Darius insists he is from Earth but an Earth without a sun, frozen and drifting through space. He takes them back through the time portal to his dark wintery snow covered world to have their life threatening injuries healed.

Clara encounters a London as she has never seen before. London of the 21st century is broken, derelict, covered in snow and completely frozen and cloaked in heavy darkness after the sun was destroyed by aliens when the human race could not be fully conquered. A century later, the human race’s DNA has evovled to survive. Now the world is populated by Vampire immortals, Werewolves, Demon and Angel forms as well as zombies - amongst others. London is now Londinium, one of the great cities left in the world, a vast deep underground world comprised of levels that resemble a futuristic Victorian England complete with sky, buildings and a beach albeit in darkness. Those not privileged to live in Londinium inhabit converted buildings, ships on the Thames which like the city drill down to draw water from the Thames and resources from the Earth for heat. The rest and most dangerous are the flesh eaters who are left to scavenge. It is here the girls have been taken through the discovered time portal so that rich criminal vampires may dine on pure human blood. Other girls have been illegally sold to the Monks who live outside as a means to perpetuate the human race again in its purity and retake it from the mutants.

Clara with the assistance of her new friends help the girls escape. At the same time, she finds herself the object of love and fascination for Darius, as well as Carter and the alluring and dangerous Emperor’s son Octavius - all of whom wish to possess her for themselves. Londinium begins to awaken memories in Clara and she comes to realise it is not the first time she has been there. The city awakens powers and gifts in her that she had never deemed possible redefining her knowledge of her identity and true heritage as the daughter of the murdered Empress who once ruled the city and the world.
