I am a writer/director from the North-West of England. From as young as I can remember, I would tell stories. As a child I would draw fully completed storyboards for my own episodes of my favourite cartoons. As I grew, I told stories through art, poetry, and prose before going on to study English Literature at the University of Sheffield. After a year living in Thailand, and a few years making my way in the corporate world, I dropped my career and applied to the London Film School to pursue my dream of telling stories through my favourite medium: cinema. I was surrounded by cameras throughout my life, with my Grandad and Nana owning their own photography business in Wigan, and my Mum continuing their love of compositions. So, it was a natural move for me to take my passion for narrative and apply it to the big screen. Originally born in Bolton, and having spent most of my life in North-Western England, I am seeking to breathe new life into an area that is usually associated with grim social-realism in film, by adding a touch of the absurd and fantastical. My most recent film, 'The Penitential Act' starring Dominic Holmes and Alan Turkington, was completed in June 2023 and is due to begin its festival journey this Autumn. It follows the story of John, a masochist recently released from prison, who forms an unlikely relationship with a Catholic priest in 1986.
