Sound design work is all about the details. Whether I’m recording sound on set for a short film or in my bedroom studio recording music. I record sounds at a relatively low volume to ensure a wide range of volumes can be heard. The volume of a low whisper can be increased, but a peaking shout is almost always beyond salvation. This same idea goes for music production. When I first created electronic dance music, I recorded everything at a high volume making mastering a pain. Practice is progress. Almost three years later and I am being hired to perform music live and to be the sound designer on many short film projects. Working often, allows for more practice and for new ideas to flow. This will lead me to my next and hopefully more improved work.
