Shen Friebe

Hi there! I'm Shen, a Turkish-Australian born and bred in the brilliant city of Melbourne, Australia. I am a screenwriter and director with average experience in producing and editing. In late 2019, I created, wrote and directed a pilot episode, 'You've Been Served', an absurdist comedy centring around the lives of four domestic servants, all working together to tackle the many daily dilemmas (and catastrophes) they face in the de Lacy Manor. Their employer, Leopold de Lacy- a senior millionaire and successor of his family’s business, De Lacy Elastics- hires the young, vastly dissimilar servants to cater to his needs around his home office and mansion.

Since 2019 and early 2020, I have struggled greatly to pitch this pilot and series. I can't say Australia has the best support and resources for emerging filmmakers, so I am on the search for an avenue who would be willing to hear my pitch and read my treatment, and/or scripts.

But I'll give you a little snippet of what my pilot is all about: 'You've Been Served' borrows elements of old-school comedy and marries it to a fresh and diverse cast, merging the old and the current to create something new yet wholesomely familiar. The series introduces a more classic sitcom format to younger audiences who crave a revival of traditional and eccentric styles of comedy, whilst rousing a feeling of nostalgia for older viewers.
