About Malinalli
Malinalli López is an award-winning film producer, director and screenwriter who was born in Guanajuato, México and lives in Sonoma County, Northern California. She has a BA in Chicano Studies from the University of California at Berkeley and an MFA in Directing in Motion Pictures and Television from the Academy of Art San Francisco. As well as being a filmmaker she has an entrepreneurial passion and is a founder and CEO at XQL media--a company dedicated to producing films and media centered in social justice and at the Bronze Rose.

Drama by XQL Media/ Jack Perez Producer HYENA is a dramatic film that features a one-woman performance by Mollena Williams-Haas, who has performed this theatrical piece live previously with Klangforum Wien. The film is directed by Jack Perez from a script by Mollena Williams-Haas: When a woman goes to rehab to heal from her addiction to alcohol, it inspires a beautiful, poetic and harrowing journey of words. Notably, the piece is fully-scored with original music by acclaimed composer, Georg Friedrich Haas, and performed by the Talea Ensemble. Haas is considered to be one of the major European composers of his generation. HYENA is a bold and courageous journey of words into the mind of an alcohol addicted woman who must fight her worst demon - the titular "hyena". It is lavish and gorgeous treatment of light, color, words and performance. -

by XQL Media Producer What does it mean to be human? What does it mean to be evicted from the place you have called home for most of your life? This feature documentary, shares the stories of residents of the Sonoma Developmental Center (SDC) and their families who faced many tough choices in being asked to relocate to smaller group homes in the North Bay Area. Film Production took place during the Summer of 2018. The documentary also features Senator Mike McGuire and Sonoma County Supervisor Susan Gorin. -
