Karen McKenna Toft is a writer/director/ producer from Flushing, Queens, New York currently living in Sherman Oaks, California.
She's been writing since she was a child, winning her first story award in Second Grade. She also began her directing and producing career by getting her friends to create neighborhood crime dramas, filmed by her father. Persuasion and organizing are her strong suits.
She graduated from Smith College and immediately got married to a scientist who went to work for a mining company in Montana. As a city girl, the year she spent in the wilds of the American west were full of indelible experiences that she draws on to this day. When her son got a part on a TV show she moved her family to LA, and she loves it. The entertainment industry is in her blood.
Karen has written numerous pilots and spec scripts. She has been hired to do punch ups and rewrites, and was in the writers room for a short-lived New York show based on the comedy of Dena Blizzard.
