PANDORA'S DESTINY: PANDORA LEARNS THE WAYS OF MAN

PANDORA'S DESTINY: PANDORA LEARNS THE WAYS OF MAN
By Rich Wingerter

GENRE: Animation
LOGLINE:

Angered when Prometheus gives man fire, Zeus sends Pandora to destroy man. But Pandora has her own ideas.

SYNOPSIS:

Long ago, Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to man. In response, Zeus orders Hephaestus to make a beguiling creature, Pandora, who he will send to earth to create trouble among men.

The gods give this new creature many powers, but Hermes takes Pandora’s awareness of her gifts away from her. Athena gives her a jar*, where she can reach in and touch primordial forces that Apollo and Artemis gathered into a crystal sphere on celestial Olympus.

Zeus arranges for Epimetheus to be besotted by Pandora, and she goes to live with him in his house on Mt. Oeta. A nearby band of men, led by Stylianos, attack the house and try to kidnap Pandora, but Epimetheus fights them off.

Pandora is fascinated by the men, and wants to learn more. Two men (Jason and Kostis) agree to show her how they live, and she goes with them. They encounter a new house in the woods, recently created by Eris. Eris has been kicked out of Olympus for causing trouble, and she puts a challenge to the men: take a small crystal sphere to her mother, Nyx, at the foot of Mt. Olympus. If they finish the task within 14 days, she will give them sacks of delicious apples.

The men tell Stylianos. He gathers his men, and they all set off across Thessaly to deliver the sphere. Pandora and Eris follow, and Epimetheus visits from time to time. But Eris tricks Pandora into helping her get even with Zeus, which gets Pandora herself banned from Olympus.

Then, as the men near their goal, Pandora’s jar disgorges its primal forces.

And Zeus strips Epimetheus of his super powers. The men despair, but Pandora still has a surprise. She and Epimetheus give man the help they need to stop the primordial forces.

Zeus is forced to accept man--as well as Pandora, her own primal force.
