SYNOPSIS:

This film is Eat, Pray, Love- but the couple edition.

After nearly getting divorced, because they’d grown apart since getting married at 23 years of age, Margret and Will sacrifice everything to pause life and fight for their marriage, by spending a year traveling to find out who they are as a couple. They do odd jobs to survive in countries they can’t afford to be in and fight about, as well as work through, some of the most challenging conversations that couples don’t usually have the time to discuss.

We meet Margret and Will, 27, split screen - tears in their eyes.

Will is sitting across the table from two older gentlemen in suits. He thanks them for the impact that they’ve had on his life.

We head over to Margret, overcome with emotion. A lady tells her that Tyrone’s mother said she could have him.

Later, we see Will and Margret at dinner. Will says that as hard as it’s been to get to this point, he’s glad that they’ve both chosen to fight for their marriage and go on their long-anticipated adventure. Surprising Will, Margret brings up that they could stay if they foster Tyrone.

Will deflates in front of her, frustrated that she’s bringing this up the week before they leave. He knows she loves Tyrone, but he’s sacrificed everything he’s worked for to fight for their marriage. Also, he’s not ready for children, and not even sure if he wants them, never mind fostering a child that has to be reevaluated every two years.

Their final week at home sees Will sent out like a king by the warehouse staff. Margret has a moment alone with Tyrone who asks if he can come live with her. She makes a promise that after their year of travel, she will come back for him. She’s waved goodbye at a children’s home with a t-shirt that has little hands stamped on it.

We watch Will and Margret get beat up with rural Italian farm living, out of their depth rebuilding a Bavarian chateau, scammed in Montenegro, ultimately becoming stronger as a team. However, as close as it seems they grow, they tiptoe around the topic of children until the topic itself tears them away from each other.

After some time Will comes back, sharing his real concern about bringing a child into their life. They work through this ultimately agreeing about Tyrone.

Arriving back, Tyrone rockets into Margret’s arms, remembering her, but not much else, as Tyrone’s grandmother has taken him into custody and hasn’t sent him to school. Also, she won’t let him go because she’ll lose her grant.

After a year of growing together, and fighting for their marriage, there’s a bittersweet ending showing that not all love can be fought for.
