SYNOPSIS:
This film is "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" but with a fresh twist. There’s an older cast, no jeans, and memorable moments from my life lived out through four friends in their early thirties.
When Layla's marriage implodes, Jesse proposes that for the next seven days, the friends each commit to doing something they've feared doing alone or have put off doing. The "Week of Wow," becomes a chance for the women to support each other as they face their wildest dreams or biggest fears.
Jesse aims for an Eat Pray Love moment by volunteering on an Italian farm. However, things go pear-shaped when she meets the owner, Alfonsina. There is a mismatch of expectations from both parties, resulting in Jesse preparing to leave early. After a moment that fosters mutual respect, an unexpected friendship blooms.
Layla adjusts to her newly single life, doing things her husband would never let her do in the past. On her date-for-one adventures, she stumbles into an unanticipated romance. Uncomfortable with how easy it is to form a new bond, she questions the way she’s viewed herself and the rules she used to abide by in life.
Marly flies up her classy, and sophisticated grandmother. After expecting a week of sightseeing and small talk, Marly stumbles into a conversation learning family secrets that reshape her perspective on her estranged relationship with her mother forcing her to question her identity.
Jane is the plus-one on her husband's business trip to Cape Town. Feeling alone while he's always busy with work, she forms a romantic attachment with a local turning into some version of the monster they all claimed Layla’s ex to be.
When they reunite, they share what they've learned and celebrate their newfound strength and resilience. Dressed up in the clothes they bought for a special occasion that never happened, they toast to their friendship and the power of facing life together.
"Week of Wow" explores the universal themes of love and friendship. It’s a feel-good adventure film about the transformative power of friendship that will leave audiences feeling inspired and uplifted.
