ANNA MAE'S SECRET RIDE
By David Dicaire

GENRE: Fantasy, Adventure
LOGLINE:

A magnificent horse selects a decorated riding champion teenage girl in order to draw her into a parallel world, where she undertakes the adventure of a lifetime in order to save his precious princess.

SYNOPSIS:

Anna Mae, a feisty fifteen-year-old girl who loves horses and has won numerous awards, medals, and trophies in equestrian competitions, would love her own, but her parents are too poor to afford one. However, the neighbour, Jeb Fields, owns Thunderbolt, a fine specimen, but her father and Jeb are feuding, so the animal is totally off-limits to her.

Not to be defied, the young girl sneaks out in the middle of the night to feed Thunderbolt some carrots with sugar on them and gets caught. The horse is a turncoat and tattles on her. She gets grounded and cannot compete in the upcoming competition.

After this incident, the horse keeps appearing in her life at the bus stop, near Butler’s Woods, at school, while doing chores, and in the middle of the night. He also showers her with gifts, including a scarf with arcane symbols, an amulet with different colours that have special powers, and other objects. After Thunderbolt is sold, she gets a job at a horse farm down the road. A couple of weeks later, when she is assigned to walk the new horse, she discovers it is Thunderbolt. He seduces her into going for a ride and takes her to Butler’s Woods, where he jumps into a different dimension.

In the parallel world, Eller, a wicked man, has assumed complete power over the entire sovereign state. The princess, Anna Mae’s universal twin, has been put into a coma. In order to save the princess, Anna Mae and her precious thoroughbred must survive the seven equestrian regions in order to defeat the evil that has befallen the kingdom.

A good idea, but the logline raises questions. First, the plot is similar to the abduction of a teenager. Secondly, it is unclear who the hero of this story is, a horse or a rider.

David Dicaire

The teenager isn't abducted,; the horse convinces her to go for a ride. There is a big difference. This is a female driven plot, so the girl is the hero. The horse is just a vehicle that allows her to accomplish the task. Thanks for your input.

David. Then maybe you need to use a word other than "seduces".

As a woman. The word denotes sexual intent aimed at misleading a young girl which makes the horse sound rather nefarious.

Perhaps, the horse can ask for the girl's assistance? He can request help, relying on the girl's kind nature and sense of adventure.

This way, the girl is a willing participant as opposed to someone who's being way laid or mislead.

Hey Elaine thanks for the suggestions. I have replaced the word seduces.
