A proud educationist by profession from India, based in Shimla and Chandigarh, I am a Ph.D. in Media and Filmmaking and for the last 20 years have been working at University level, teaching primarily Media, Journalism, Filmmaking techniques including Screenwriting, Cinematography, Editing, Sound and Film Production. I am also quite entrenched in seminal and academic studies on Filmmaking Theory, Visual language and aesthetics and have contributed in various conferences and Seminars. After giving training to hundreds of students, I have now decided to take a plunge and develop my portfolio as a screenwriter. To some extent, I have achieved spectacular success. In my first pitching session in Mumbai, I managed to get shortlisted by Disney for my script on a female Air Force pilot but then I got to know the ugly side of the industry where the writer is considered the lowest common denominator, a pushover who can be browbeaten into submission by using brute legal manoeuvring. Well that's about to change and the world is going to know all about it soon. With filmmaking and stories transcending the barriers of language and regions, I do hope to present a unique perspective to the agents and producers in the USA and elsewhere and I hope that they will find a substantial potential in the stories coming up from this part of the world.
