Sam Ellis is an American screenwriter, hailing from a small steel town in the hills of Western Pennsylvania. Descended from coal miners, farmers, and schoolteachers, Sam saw a packed matinee showing of Star Wars on a cold February Saturday in 1978 at the Cinema I-II-III, and that was that.
Sam was a quarterfinalist in the 2022 Scriptation Showcase Teleplay competition and a finalist in the 2023 Stage 32 Rom Com contest. He’s always writing, in any genre, except on the Western Pennsylvania Sabbath - Steelers Sundays in the fall.
Lessons in Gravity Budget: $1M - $5M | Romance ⋄ Comedy LESSONS IN GRAVITY is a romantic comedy in which single mother, and writer-of-her-generation, ANGELICA, escapes to a college campus seeking inspiration for her next work. When she does, she runs headlong into the misogynistic-boy-wonder-physicist, MAC, and these ‘strange attractors’ become locked into an inevitable orbit. Figuring out what you want from life is an art not a science.
