About Clif
Clifton Charles Roberts IV was born July 24th, 1981 in Portland, ME and is a VFX artist and filmmaker. He grew up in Edgewater, FL before joining the Marine Corps in July of 2000. After a 4 year enlistment and two WESTPAC deployments, he returned home to work on his studies. Not immediately finding his calling, he took odd jobs to pay his bills while living at home. In the summer of 2007, he met the woman who would eventually become his wife. Two years later, he moved with her to Gainesville, FL, where she was a student at the University of Florida.
He began taking classes at Santa Fe College, initially studying English, but then switched to graphic design after getting positive feedback for his designs while working in the campus VA office. After receiving his Associates in Graphic Design, he moved into the Digital Media and Video Production program where he found his love for filmmaking.
Because of the education he received there, he began working in the professional field creating corporate videos while also creating films for local competitions to sharpen his skills. It was a random LinkedIn post that brought him in contact with Patrick Read Johnson, who hired him as Second Unit VFX for the film 5-25-77, allowing Clif his first taste at mainstream filmmaking.
Clif lives in Gainesville, FL, where he works with a dedicated team of local creatives cultivating the video production company Seven Ashes Productions.
