SYNOPSIS:
A dark-humoured drama about an eclectic group of individuals dealing with a conspiracy of violence in a provincial English town. A hard-boiled deadbeat policeman, a kind-natured professional juggler and a vigilant dustman make an unlikely team as football violence is on the rise and a mysterious stranger appears in town. Cynicism and optimism clash head-on as the sharp-talking characters wrestle with each other’s personalities in this often surreal adventure. Amidst a hooliganism crisis, Constable Bostik is in trouble for drinking on the job and avoiding work. He is given the task of investigating a man perched on a mound, spurred on by a curious onlooker in the form of Jenni the juggler. Together they bring in Goggles, a wild eccentric who has turned sullen and will not explain why. Meanwhile, dustman Hattet, an acquaintance of Jenni’s, tries to unravel what he believes is a plot to incite violence through fixed football results. The story arcs come together as Goggles reveals his part in conspiracy, and the characters work together to solve it. However, a football firm, an unstable horticulturist and Bostik’s own self-destructive nature all pose obstacles to facing this looming darkness. A story about personal development and humanity, by the dramatic conclusion Bostik finds a new sense of hope and duty as Jenni’s charms restore a base decency in him.
