SYNOPSIS:

BLACKLIST REVIEW

An engaging opening. The performances are fun and an entertaining element throughout the story. The movie quotes are a fun motif with clever dialogue. Che Ha and Davis are well written with a solid connection and relationship arc. The ticking clock and the strikes with the film and tv department being shut down is great drama and it's entertaining. Michelle's game winning kick is a great moment during a fun set piece at the football game as Davis' conflict over playing football or being a film nerd amplifies. The end is satisfying with a sense of hope for the future after Che Ha makes up with her mother and Davis after her emotional speech.

Labeled "The Film Freaks," this tight-knit group talk in movie quotes, go by famous movie star nicknames, break into film songs, and make movies. Their production crews are always covering the big events and games on Campus, but they are never invited to the party. Their quirky style makes them targets for the Campus Elite.

Disaster strikes when the funding for the arts is cut and the Film School is on the chopping block. To raise money and their profile, the Film Freaks throw the best Oscar Party the school has ever seen.

Using all their movie-making know-how, they create an event full of Oscar-winning song, dance, drama, and comedy. Oscar Party engages the support of the very students who ridicule them, the faculty, and the community. To top it off, their student film is submitted by their professor to the Student Oscars and wins.

Oscar Party is about embracing who you are and following your dreams.
